Dr. Bland

Broken L Veterinary Services (BLVS) is a mixed animal and exotic practice with facilities in Center Point, AR, and Texarkana, TX. We also provide mobile services to all of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

BLVS practices a unique style of medicine with client education being our main goal at every appointment. We spend more time with you and your pet/livestock to ensure you don’t have any questions when you leave. We strive to send home written discharges for every patient to give you a reference for what was covered while you were in the clinic.

We offer a wide variety of services from preventative medicine, surgery, and reproductive services. Be sure to check out the “Services” tab for details on all the services we provide.

The ‘Broken L’ portion of the business name is actually Dr. Bland’s family brand. She is the 5th generation for the brand & it is one of the first and oldest registered brands in Kansas. The Broken L brand is still registered in Kansas.

BLVS Staff

  • Dr. Bland

    Dr. Bland is a Kansas native & 6th generation cattle producer. In June 2017, she graduated from St. George’s University (SGU) which is located in Grenada, West Indies, in the Caribbean. She started Broken L Veterinary Services in September 2018 out of her truck. BLVS has grown to having two locations in 3.5 years!

    Dr. Bland married Justin Smith in August 2016. Justin is a Nashville, AR, native. They currently have a small herd of commercial angus cows that they use as “recips” for embryo transfer. They also have 1 potbelly pig (Charlotte), 3 dogs (Gabby, Waylon, & Willie), 2 cats (Lewis & Clark), 2 goats (Fae & Batman), 1 sheep (Rona), 2 ducks (Kira & Kyle), 2 geese (Lucy & LeRoy), 4 Quarter Horses (Pedro, Katy, Sheik, & Sister), and 5 chuckwagon racing ponies (Ben, Buck, Pepper, Coco, & Sickle).

    Her hobbies include spending time with Justin, traveling, hanging out with her animals, driving/racing her chuckwagon team, photography, scuba diving, & riding horses!

  • Cary

    Cary joined the BLVS team in July 2023. She is a RN with 30 years of experience. She is our wonderful Practice Manager and helps to keep Dr. Bland on schedule!
